The
B. + S. Tissières Foundation started its activities in spring 2001.
Through the development of an interface with the scientific and tourist
media, it presents exhibitions about earth sciences and tourism with nature.
Moreover its objectives consist in promoting activities and circulate information
related to tourism and the natural and cultural resources, especially with
the earth sciences and the nature sciences.
Trough 2003, at the occasion of its 3rd exhibition season, the B. + S. Tissières
Foundation offers you the following themes:
THE MINING EXPLOITATION IN VALAIS
Recreate a mine atmosphere : cutting front, small truck, forge, tools, movies,
ores, documents and explanations related to mines exploitation and to Valais
miners' life.
DANGER FALLING ROCKS! ROCKS INSTABILITY Temporary joint exhibition Valais,
Aosta and Piemont regions: Rock falls that have had an impact on the Valais
and the Alps, mechanics of a rock fall and protection measures. Introduction
to the structure of soils from the agronomical perspective. Exhibition of
some computing and geodesic instruments from Jean-Marie Rouiller, as tools
to prevent from natural dangers.
THE ALPS CRYSTALS Minerals and light, fluorescence, colour, structure and
chemistry of minerals, the system, the rocks.
Educational and entertaining introduction to the complex and spectacular
world of mineralogy.
Local associations of mineral seekers.
This theme provides two major associations of crystal specialists and amateur
seekers with the opportunity to introduce themselves and to present an overview
of their most spectacular finds.

What are the faces, the stories behind the magnificent shiny crystals on
display ?
This space offers the crystal specialists the opportunity to unveil part
of the mystery by expressing their passion through words, by showing their
preferred finds.
You will also find here numerous works and documents dedicated to earth
sciences and nature sciences, as well as a wide animation program about
mines and minerals themes (hikes, field experiments, simple chemistry, tales
and legends, creativity, etc.)
